Thomas William Rose, Jr. was born December 26, 1930, in Abilene, KS to Thomas William Sr. and Isabelle (Bangerter) Rose.  Tom spent his grade school years in Kansas.  Shortly after the start of World War II, the family moved to Falls City.  He attended Junior High and graduated from Falls City High School in 1949. After graduation the family moved to Bloomfield where he met Helen McDonald.  They were married March 9, 1952 at the Bloomfield Methodist Church.  Tom was drafted into the U.S. Army on May 20, 1952, and the couple were stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX.  Tom was discharged on May 19, 1954, and the family returned to Bloomfield.  In March of 1955, they moved to Wayne where Tom worked for Coryell Auto for nearly 22 years.  In 1976, Tom and Helen established their own business, Tom’s Body and Paint Shop.  With the success of the business they incorporated and expanded with their two sons becoming shareholders and eventually taking over operations.  Tom and Helen retired in the mid-90’s and enjoyed traveling to many places until Helen’s health began to fail.  Tom was a 50 year member of the Wayne United Methodist Church serving on many boards and committees.  He was also a member of the Wayne Chamber of Commerce and a long-time volunteer with Meals on Wheels.  He enjoyed restoring old vehicles and was proud of restoring the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department’s 1936 Ford pumper, one of Wayne’s first fire trucks.

Tom is survived by his children; Dan (Kyle) Rose of Wayne, Doug Rose of Wayne, and Daphne Walton of Ponte Vedra, FL; two granddaughters, Megan (Eli) Armstrong of Sioux Falls, SD and Marisa Rose of Hopkins, MN; two step-great-granddaughters, Jessica and Rebecca Armstrong of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister, Lana (Gene) Suhr of Fort Worth, TX; several nieces and nephews.
