Ed Carroll, age 91, of Wayne

Mass of Christian Burial for Ed Carroll, age 91, of Wayne will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present. A Vigil Service will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m.  Interment with Military Rites will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Carroll Family for later designation. He passed away Tuesday at his home in Wayne. Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Edward William Carroll son of Dan and Lena (Dominisse) Carroll was born August 31, 1925, near Randolph.  He was baptized, received First Communion, and was confirmed at St. Frances Catholic Church in Randolph. He attended Randolph Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Randolph High School, loved sports and was active in football, baseball, and track.  As a junior he set a new record in the 100 yard low hurdles and when he was a senior was all state in football.  Ed joined the United States Navy in 1943, when he was a senior.   He took his boot training in Farragut, ID and was stationed on Manus Island in the Admiralty Island, being discharged in April of 1946.  He was then employed at his Dad’s bar in Randolph until 1949, when they purchased the Midway Bar in Madison. On December 16, 1951, Ed was united in marriage to Lorine Knapp.  They had five children: Dan, Deb, Doug, Dean, and Dennis.  Ed worked a short time for Curtis Candy Co. and in 1953, went to work in the sales department at Leitchliter Chevrolet in Madison.  He then worked at Nissen Chevrolet in Randolph until March in 1968, when he became sales manager for Coryell Chevrolet-Olds in Wayne.  He was also employed for Mike Perry Chevrolet-Olds in Wayne and Watson Chevrolet in Plainview, retiring in 1988.  Ed married Dolores Graf June 19, 1982.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne.  He loved pheasant and deer hunting along with watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events.

Ed is survived by his wife, Dolores “Dee” Carroll; four sons, Dan Carroll, Doug (Shannon) Carroll, Dean Carroll, Dennis Carroll and daughter, Deb (Dennis) Allemann-Dannelly, all of Wayne; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Randy (Shirley) Graf of Randolph and Rich Graf of Stanton; step-daughter, Rhonda (Dave) Whalen of Columbus; 9 step-grandchildren; and 14 step- great-grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorine; sisters, Maxine Berg and Bonnie Clerget; son-in-law, Rodger Allemann; and daughter-in-law, Mary Carroll.
