Allen “Digger” Brodersen, age 84, of Laurel

Memorial services for Allen “Digger” Brodersen, age 84, of Laurel, Nebraska, will be Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Laurel with Rev. Jeffery P. Warner officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements. He died Saturday, September 24, 2016, a Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, Nebraska.
Allen D. Brodersen was born April 21, 1932, at Hartington, Nebraska to Ernest and Alice (Lentz) Brodersen. He grew up in Hartington and graduated from Hartington Public High School. Allen served in the United States Army and was stationed overseas in Korea. On November 6, 1959, he was married to Wilma D. Ebmeier at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Laurel. Allen and Wilma owned and operated Laurel Well and Supply.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and initiated an annual scholarship through Immanuel Lutheran Church, given to a Laurel High School graduate. Allen was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4504 of Laurel. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, having coffee at the Senior Center, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Allen is survived by his son, Greg (Deb) Guinn of West Liberty, IA; daughter, Nadine (Jim) Fredrickson of Carroll, NE; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Flom of Hartington, NE, Barbara Schindler of Sioux City, IA, and Judy (Greg) Dirchx of Cannon Falls, MN brothers, Roger (Patricia) Brodersen of Hartington, NE, and Robert (Jean) Brodersen of South Sioux City, NE.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma; and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 303 Alma Street, Laurel, NE 68745.
